The Stanley Fund for Recovery

Moving recovery forward 🚲

A personal philanthropic initiative created by Tiffany Yu in honor of her dad Stanley with a long-term commitment to direct $100,000 toward nonprofits serving people and families in recovery in the Los Angeles area.

The Stanley Fund for Recovery is a fiscally sponsored project of Disability Power Bloc, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization (EIN 85-3308510).

why we started

Dad, here's what your memory made possible.

My dad, Stanley, passed away in a car accident when I was nine years old—an accident that also left me disabled.Much of my career has been shaped by my own lived experience with disability. My advocacy work and my book, The Anti-Ableist Manifesto, feel like part of the legacy I'm building. The Stanley Fund for Recovery feels different. This is my way of honoring my dad. While the fund has been shaped by the incredible people I've met in the recovery community, it is rooted in his memory.Through The Stanley Fund for Recovery, I've committed $100,000 in charitable support to organizations creating places where people and families can heal, reconnect, and belong. The bicycle in our logo is a tribute to his love of cycling.Recovery, like riding a bike, requires balance, forward motion, and the courage to keep going.— Tiffany Yu, Founder

how we choose partners

We don't believe meaningful philanthropy starts with a spreadsheet. We believe relationships matter. The Stanley Fund for Recovery partners with organizations we've taken time to know through volunteering, community events, fundraising, and shared experiences. We look for communities that embody healing, belonging, and recovery—not just in their mission statements, but in the way they show up for people. Our grants often come after we've experienced an organization's work firsthand. By the time we provide funding, we're not supporting strangers—we're investing in communities that have become part of our lives.Every partnership has an origin story.
